Product Overview

Company Name: Gold Canyon

Owner: Curt & Karen Waisath

Price to Join: $39

My Rating: 6.8 out of 10.0

What is the Gold Canyon?

Gold Canyon is a multi-level marketing company that sells candles, home fresheners and home decor related products. The main focus of the company is on selling candles, but it doesn’t mean that the other products are ignored.

You can find a diverse range of products including pillows, frames and lanterns. Actually, it has been featured on various media outlets and they are good at maintaining a strong brand image. This company was founded in the year 1997 so it is around 20 years old. By the way, the founders are Curt and Karen Waisath.

In this review, I will take a closer look at this company and try to determine whether this is a scam or not. This is based on my honest research about it. I recommend that you read the entire review before thinking about joining this company.

How Does Gold Canyon Work?

Most MLM companies have the same format on their ways of earning. They are primarily focused on selling and recruiting.

So Let us now take a look at the compensation plan of Gold Canyon. Here are some of the ways of earning money.

The company pays a base commission of 25% on your personal volume. The personal volume is based on the amount of products that you are able to sell. In addition to the base commission, you can also earn a personal volume bonus of 11% by having a personal volume of 6,000 per month.

This bonus is paid in the range of 2-11% based on your personal volume in a month. So you can earn 36% commission on your retail sales if you do really well.

The company pays team overrides in the range of 2-5% depending on your rank. As a Consultant, you will not earn any team overrides. You will have to advance to Senior Consultant level to earn team overrides on your frontline or directly sponsored Consultants.

If you don’t know what team override means, then it simply means that the bonus that the company pays you are based on the sales of your team.

More Information About Gold Canyon

If you qualify for the quick start sponsor bonus, then you will receive double override commissions on the sales of your newly sponsored Consultant for the first 90 days. The company pays overrides up to 3 levels deep. It is also paid on the team volume after you qualify for the rank of Team Leader or higher.

The company also pays you bonus for advancing in the ranks. The bonus obviously depends on the rank and not all ranks pay an advancement bonus.

The company pays generational overrides up to 5 generations deep. You can start earning generational overrides when you reach the rank of Senior Team Leader or above. They are paid in the range of 2-5% depending on your rank.

I know that it is somehow difficult to understand and this is the case with the compensation plan of almost every MLM company. You can earn the majority of the bonuses by advancing in the ranks but to advance in the ranks you have to build a strong downline.

Without the support of your downline, you will not get the full benefit of the compensation plan.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

You can join in Gold Canyon for as little as $39, which is not a lot of money. There are two kits that you can choose from and they are the Start Your Way Basic Kit and Start Your Way Premium Kit.

The Start Your Way Basic Kit costs $39 and the Start Your Way Premium Kit costs $99. The prices of the kits are a little higher if you live in Canada instead of U.S.A.

How Much Can I Earn?

The products of this company aren’t consumable and they are certainly not the cheapest in the market. However, you can still sell them as they are high-quality products backed up by a strong brand image. You can sell the products, but to earn a full-time income just by selling the products is not possible for most people.

In order to earn a full-time income, you will have to rely on your team and it is not easy to build a strong team.

Most people fail in companies like this one so you will have to find people who can survive in the long run and some of them should also reach the higher ranks. I think this is where most people will fail and their earnings will be limited.

Are there Any Complaints?

It is important to see all the sides of a business. So I have listed some of the major concerns below.

There is no stable amount of income.

One of the hardest things to overcome is reaching out to people and getting them interested in the business.

Bottom Line

In my opinion, Gold Canyon is not a scam. They still offer some helpful information on how you can start your own business.

On the other hand, I don’t think that you will have an easy time with this type of business because of the high rate of failure and difficulty associated with advancing in the ranks. However, if you like the products and know a lot of people who can become a part of your team, then you may give it a try.

Nevertheless, I still leave the final decision in your hands. Good luck and choose wisely.

  • Teaches entrepreneurial skills
  • Good product line

  • Too Much Competition
  • Climb the ranks to earn more
  • Support is limited

How Do I Personally Earn Money Online?

I know that you want to join in Gold Canyon because you are eager to find a new source of income. I also feel that you want to build your own business to have financial freedom.

But let me tell you that this type of business is not that easy to handle. It requires great support and passion towards the products that you sell in order to succeed.

On the other hand, if you are still looking for new source of earning, then you can also take a look into my personal choice. My best suggestion would be through making your own online business with a support from community. Basically it is a modern way of making money. And it doesn’t require any selling.

Right now, I am on my second year in this type of business and I am already enjoying the fruits of my labor. So, I want to share my success with you.

  1. 2018 Yes, it’s an MLM now… and boy has Gold Canyon changed.
I was recently told that we can (but not required) join the SOTM “Scent of the Month” program and by doing so be able to purchase other items throughout the month at a 25% discount (preferred customer). However, the SOTM is $29.95 + $5 Shipping and sales tax. And if us Consultants (now called Executives) do not participate we have to PAY an ANNUAL fee of $99 to continue on. The perks (so called) as a SOTM Exec is you no longer have to pay the $11.99 monthly website fee and the $5 shipping is given back as “gold cash” that you can use towards any GC product or supply. So instead of paying $12/mo and $99 annually = $243 you are buy a candle you may not even like (a unique fragrances each month/no in our product line) for $37-38 (w/tax/shipping) and basing it at $37 = $444. Bottom-line; you are actually spending $200 more a year with the SOTM program. Our large Heritage is $24.97 …SOTM is $5 more and the same size jar.

  2. I had never heard of Gold Canyon MLM before! I found this read very interesting.

When you sign up as a consultant, what does it take to become classified as a Senior Consultant? As you stated, it does seem that you would have to work your way up to really earn any money!

I have always been HORRIBLE at MLM Marketing. I hate feeling as though I am pushing my family & friends to make purchases. But… who doesn’t love candles!

Might be worth a shot… thanks again!
