Do you always spend your money in things that make you happy? Are you an impulsive buyer that every time you receive your paycheck, you immediately get what you want? Well, you should probably change that habit.
What is the Problem?
Most of the time when people receive their checks, they instantly think on how they will spend it. Here are some of the most common things that most people do.
- Buy new items such as cars, house, gadgets, jewelry and bags.
- Spend it in gambling.
- Use it to treat friends for a one night only event
- Impulse buying of things that you don’t actually need
These are just some of the many reasons why people easily loss their money. All of these are considered instant gratification.
Instant gratification usually happens when someone feels that he/she needs comfort or reward for all the hardships that he/she gets. For example, after a long week of doing chores at your job, you tend to spend much of your money on the weekends. You feel that you need to reward yourself and release the stress.
At the end of the day, you regret all the money you spent and wished that you could turn back the time.
I also have the same experiences as you before. Often times, after my long week at work, I tend to treat myself in the weekend and spend all the money for things that I think might make me happy. But at the end of the day, I just regret everything that I did.
I then realized that I shouldn’t make myself get used to instant gratification. I know it really feels good. But mind you, this is just a short term happiness. This means that you only feel happy at this point of time but later on you will realize that it is not worth it.
What is the Solution?
FINANCIAL FREEDOM TIP #9:
Before you continue with your habits towards your money spending, you should now think one step ahead. I know that what you see in front of you is very appealing, but you should remember that there is always a tomorrow.
This means that whatever you do today will influence what will happen in the future.
I suggest that you always think big. Think of what may happen in the next day. Don’t just lie in there and feel that this is the last day of your life. I know that spending on things that you like is very fulfilling but you should also remember that not everything revolves around you.
Things may happen in the future. You will never know if it will be good or bad. Saving money instead of overspending it is a wise way in preparing on what will happen. It is good to know that you have something to use in case of emergency. In this way, you will not rattle out when the time comes.
Don’t be afraid to think big! I know that it is somehow overwhelming when you think about the big picture when you imagination your future. But mind you, this is the key of attaining success. Don’t focus in just what will happen in the present time. Think also of what’s gonna happen in the future.
