Is BeautyCounter A Scam

Product Overview

Company Name: Beauty Counter

Owner: Gregg Renfrew

Price to Join: $85

My Rating: 6.8 out of 10.0

What is the Beauty Counter?

Beautycounter is a multi-level marketing company that sells products in the personal care niche. They offer moisturizers, makeup, masks, eye, lip care, and hair care products.

They claim that their products are safer as they have banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals. It looks like that the products are of high-quality, but they are expensive as well. I don’t think that many people will be ready to pay the higher price for the safer products. By the way, Gregg Renfrew is the founder of this company as founded the company in the year 2013.

In this review, I will take a closer look at this company and try to determine whether this is a scam or not. This is based on my honest research about it. I recommend that you read the entire review before thinking about joining this company.

How Does Beauty Counter Work?

Let us take a look at the ways of earning money through the compensation plan of this company.

It is no surprise that the company pays commissions for making retail sales. They pay 25% commission on retail sales and you can start earning the commissions as soon as you make your first sale.

If you want to earn more than 25% commission, then you can do so by using the Personal Sales Bonus. The Personal Sales Bonus will give you an additional bonus in the range of 5%-10%.

It is paid to those people who have a high personal volume in a month. It is generated by sales to clients or members and it doesn’t include your personal orders. Once you reached a personal volume of 750, you will earn 5% Personal Sales Bonus.

To earn 10% bonus, you will need a personal volume of more than 3,000 in a month.

Override Commissions are paid on the commissionable volume of the people in your downline. It includes the wholesale price of the products that are sold by your downline to members or clients and it also includes their personal orders at wholesale sale price.

You may earn on more levels and a higher commission when you qualify for a higher rank. These commissions are paid in the range of 4% – 9% on up to 4 levels deep.

When the people in your downline reach level 1, then you may earn this bonus. Level 1 includes the people that you have directly sponsored and level 2 includes the people that are sponsored by people on level 1. More levels are added as the people on your lowest level sponsor others.

This bonus pays $25 for each level 1 paid-as Senior Consultant, $50 for each level 1 paid-as Manager and $100 for each level 1 paid-as Senior Manager in your downline.

The company also pays Director Generation Overrides, which are paid on the commissionable volume of all the people in your different generations.

These overrides are also based on your rank so lower ranks will pay on less generations. There are various requirements that you will have to meet to advance in the ranks. You must also have 1,200 qualifying volume in a 6-month period to remain as active consultant.

250 out of the 1,200 qualifying volume must come from new members or clients. I must say that it is not going to be easy to maintain  your active status and the higher ranks will also include qualifications related to your downline. So it can get very complicated to run a business based on the compensation plan of this company.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

There are three starter sets that you can choose from if you decide to join in Beauty Counter, but it is not necessary to buy them for joining.

You only need to buy the Enrollment Kit to join and it only costs $85. It doesn’t include any products, but it does include a personalized website. You will also have to pay $50 Business-Builder renewal fee every year that you stay with the company.

How Much Can You Earn?

I don’t think that you will most likely have great results if you decide to join this company. The problem is that most people have a challenging time in multi-level marketing companies and there is no reason to believe that this company is any different.

In addition, the products are expensive while there are many MLM companies that offer products at a low price.

Even if you find someone who is interested in the products, she may refuse to buy because of the price. On the other hand, a few sales can help you earn money quickly because of the higher earnings from expensive products.

The recruitment part is going to be really tough because of not finding enough people to join the company. Even if you find someone, there is no guarantee that they will stay in the business for a long time.

So your chances of earning a full-time income are not good if you join this company.

Are there Any Complaints?

Yes, and I have listed some of the major concenrs below.

One problem is about spending too much of your money to buy the products to share to your prospect customers who are interested in joining in Beautycounter.

To make good money it requires around the clock work hours.

Bottom Line

In my opinion, Beautycounter is not a scam. They still offer some helpful information on how you can start your own business.

On the other hand, they also have things to improve on. But if you have the passion on the products that they offer then you can look into this MLM company. Nevertheless, I still leave the final decision in your hands. Good luck and choose wisely.

  • Good earning potential if done right
  • Teaches entrepreneurial skills

  • Climb the ranks to earn more commission
  • Support can be improved

How Can You Earn Money Online?

It seems like you want to join in Beautycounter because you are eager to have some extra source of income. It also feels like you want to build a business to sustain your needs.

But let me tell you that this type of business is not that easy. It requires perseverance and patience in order to achieve your goals.

On the other hand, if you are still looking for a new source of income, then you can also take a look into my personal choice. My best suggestion would be through making your own online business with a support from community. Basically it is a modern way of making money. And it doesn’t require any selling or recruiting.

Right now, I am on my second year in this type of business and I am already enjoying the fruits of my labor. So, I want to share my success with you.

  1. Thank you for sharing an honest review about the BeautyCounter. I had not heard about the company before, but it does not sound as a scam, as you mention. However, it will be difficult to earn money easily. It might have worked for some, but there is an end to how many affiliates can join the program until it will not work anymore.

Thanks for sharing and for pointing to the number 1 recommendation to earn an online income.
