SendOutCards Review: Is It Another MLM Scam?

SendOutCards Review

SendOutCards is a multi-level marketing company that focuses on selling greeting and business cards. The concept is simple, you can create a card through their card editor and send it to others quickly.

Instead of writing and sending the card, the customers can easily send a card to anyone with the click of a button. The company also sells gifts, but the main focus is on selling cards. The products are not expensive and it certainly looks like that they are worth it. This company was founded in the year 2003 by Kody Bateman, who is also the current CEO of this company.

In this SendOutCards review, I will take a closer look at this company and try to determine whether this is a scam or not. This review based on my honest research about it. I recommend that you read the entire review before thinking about joining this company.

Product Overview

Company Name: SendOutCards

Price to Join: $59

My Rating: 6.7 out of 10.0

How Does SendOutCards Work?

SendOutCards has provided its full compensation plan on its website, which is something that not all MLM companies do. So let us take a look at the ways of earning money through this company.

CUSTOMER COMMISSIONS

Your commission payouts will be based on the commissionable volume. Commissionable volume is generated by the purchases made by you and your direct customers. It  will not contain the full amount of purchase price so keep that in mind. You can earn as high as 20% in customer commissions, but for that you have to be group qualified.

You need to have 93 personal and customer volume in the previous 35 day period to be group qualified.

The personal and customer volume is calculated on a rolling basis. It will be based on the purchases made by you and your direct customers. If you are not group qualified, but still have 31 personal and customer volume, then you will earn 5% in customer commissions.

I know it is complicated and you may find it difficult to understand at first. In simple words, you will have to meet certain qualifications or you will not earn the highest (20%) customer commission.

You can earn the 5% commission by simply buying products worth 31 personal and customer volume on your own.

PRODUCT BONUS

A sponsor is someone who brings new distributors into the business. As a sponsor, you can earn product bonuses for eligible product purchases by distributors and customers.

There are no qualifications required for earning product bonuses other than being active. On the other hand, the amount paid by product bonuses is not clear in the compensation plan.

CUSTOMER ACQUISITION BONUS

This is a one time bonus that is paid to you for eligible product purchases made by downline customers and distributors. The more ranks you are qualified for, the higher amount of bonus you will earn because this bonus is paid on each rank that you are qualified for.

For example, if you are a Manager, then you can earn $25 for Sponsor and $13 for Manager. Similarly, if you are a Sr. Manager, then you will earn $25 for Sponsor, $13 for Manager and $8 for Sr. Manager.

The compensation plan also pays downline commissions on up to 7 levels deep if you are group qualified.

I have already explained how you can be group qualified above. You can earn 20% commission on your zero level by having 31 in personal and customer volume. The rest of the levels pay in the range of 2% to 5%, where only the seventh level pays 5%.

There are other ways of earning money but I have explained the most important ones already. It is similar to the compensation plans of other MLM companies and in some areas it is weaker compared to others.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

You will have to spend $59 annually to become a Referral Partner of SendOutCards.

Referral Partner simply means the distributor of this company. I don’t know if there are any additional expenses involved, but you will surely have to spend $59 each year if you choose to stay with the company.

How Much Can I Earn?

I was able to find the Income Disclosure Statement of the company for the year 2015. It would have been nice to find a more recent Income Disclosure Statement. It is certainly surprising that the company stopped publishing this information in the recent years.

There are a lot of figures in the Statement, but I will focus on the most important one. The average gross monthly earnings for active distributors was $29.95 for majority of the distributors (81.42%) in the year 2015.

Obviously, some distributors have earned more, but the majority must have earned less than $100 in a month even after staying active.

So it is clear that most people didn’t make a full-time income through this company. I don’t think that there would be much difference in the results today.

Are there Any Complaints?

Yes, and I have listed some of the major concerns below.

The earnings of most people were too low during the year 2015.

There isn’t much scope of repeat sales with cards.

Bottom Line

In my opinion, SendOutCards is not a scam. They still offer some valuable ways on how you can start your own business. Plus sending out cards is a unique niche.

On the other hand, there are also limitations on this kind of business. If you don’t have the passion towards the products that you are offering then you may find it challenging. The income disclosure statement also tells that only selected few people will be able to succeed in this business.

Nevertheless, I still leave the final decision in your hands. Good luck and choose wisely.

Pros

  • Teaches entrepreneurial skills
  • Work at home type of business

Cons

  • Need to be qualified in order to earn more commissions
  • Maybe Overwhelming for beginners

I know you want to invest in SendOutCards because you are already tired of not earning that much from your current job. I also feel that you already learned the earning potential of building your own business.

But let me tell you that this type of business is not that easy. You need to have great skills in selling and recruiting in order to earn your desired income. Plus you have to be patient because nothing good will come overnight.

On the other hand, if you are still looking for a new and alternative source of income, then you can also take a look into my personal favorite choice. My best suggestion would be through making your own online business with a support from community. Basically it is a modern way of making money. What I like about it is that it doesn’t require any selling or recruiting.

Right now, I am on my second year in this type of business and I am already enjoying the fruits of my labor. So, I want to share my success with you.

  1. Hi John
Thanks for sharing this post. It’s a bit of a shame to hear from your financial digging you found that on average the majority of people made 30 bucks in month which isn’t enough to quit your job tomorrow. It is good to hear that it does teach some of the basic skills to get someone up and running. Thanks for doing the hard investigation work so people like us get a great summary!

    Cheers
    James
