What is the Stampin’ Up?

Stampin’ Up is a multi-level marketing company that offers craft and hobby supplies that you can use to make stationery, scrapbooks or greeting cards.

The products can be found in the categories of kits, ink, coloring tools, paper, tools, stamps, adhesives and many others. There are a lot of products that are offered by the company. The products are mainly for those who have a hobby of making their own scrapbooks, greeting cards or stationery. This company was founded in the year 1988 by two sisters. The names of the sisters are Shelli Gardner and LaVonne Crosby.

In this review, I will take a closer look at this company and try to determine whether this is a scam or not. This is based on my honest research about it. I recommend that you read the entire review before thinking about joining this company.

How Does Stampin’ Up Work?

Let us take a look at the ways of earning money through the compensation plan of this company.

RETAIL SALES

The company pays 20% instant income on your sales when you are at the rank of Bronze. When you qualify for Bronze Elite or above, you will earn 25% instant or deferred income on your sales. The company also pays volume rebates when your monthly personal sales are beyond $600.

The volume rebates are paid in the range of 4% to13% depending on the range of your monthly personal sales. So you can earn a maximum of 38% (25+13) income from your personal sales. The starting commission is not that good because many companies pay a higher starting commission.

TEAM COMMISSIONS

The company pays team commissions on the sales of your team members. You need to fulfill three qualifications for earning this bonus.

The first qualification is your personal sales in a month. The second qualification is the direct demonstrator count, which means the number of demonstrators that you personally enroll. The third qualification is personal and direct level one sales.

Direct level one sales are the sales of the people that you personally recruit. The team commissions are paid in the range of 1% to 6.5% depending on your qualifications.

You can earn team commissions on your first level and the next two levels after that. Your second level also includes the third level demonstrators who don’t have an active team leader.

PERFORMANCE BONUS

These bonuses pay extra commissionable sales volume. Commissionable sales volume is actually a unit of measurement that tracks your commissionable sales. There are various milestones that can pay you performance bonuses like 10,000 commissionable sales volume per quarter.

Certain performance bonuses are recurring and most of these are paid annually.

The company also has a rewards program, but it doesn’t pay any cash rewards. It pays product credits or flex points. I have already mentioned all the ways of earning money through the compensation plan.

The compensation plan pays low commission and the team commissions aren’t paid up to several levels deep. There are companies that pay team commissions up to 5 or 6 levels deep. There are several qualifications as well that you have to meet consistently to keep getting paid at a rank.

In my opinion, the compensation plan is not as good as the compensation plans of many other MLM companies.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

There is only one starter kit that Stampin’ Up offers and it costs for $99. This is not the cheapest starter kit, but it is quite affordable.

The best part is that the company allows you to choose the products that you want in your starter kit. You can choose products that are worth up to $125 in your starter kit. They will also give you business supplies with the kit. The shipping of the kit is free.

How Much Can I Earn?

The problem with multi-level marketing companies is that most people fail in them. This company has a weaker compensation plan than many other MLM companies. The products are also not that impressive. In my opinion, the products of this company don’t solve a particular problem and they are not essential.

You will also struggle to get repeat sales because most people will not buy supplies for their hobby again and again. Team building is something that you will struggle with because of the nature of the business model.

Even if you get a few team members, it will be very hard to make sure that they stay in this business. I don’t think that most people will make a great income through this business opportunity.

Are There Any Complaints?

Yes, and I have listed some of the major concerns below.

It is hard to find new clients.

The hardest part of the job was trying to motivate others to work at the same level in order to gain maximum benefits.

Bottom Line

In my opinion, Stampin’ Up is not a scam. They still offer some helpful information on how you can start your own business. On the other hand, if you don’t have the passion about selling and recruiting then you may find this business a little bit harder.

If you love making scrapbooks and greeting cards, then you may join this company for earning some extra money while doing what you love. Nevertheless, I still leave the final decision in your hands. Good luck and choose wisely.

Pros

  • Teaches entrepreneurial skills
  • Good earning potential if done right

Cons

  • Climb the ranks to earn more
  • Support can be improved

I know that you want to join in Stampin’ Up because you are already tired of not earning that much from your day time job. I also feel that you want to have a new source of income.

But let me tell you that this type of business is not that easy. If you don’t have the passion towards the products that you are offering then you might have a problem.

On the other hand, if you are still looking for a new source of income, then you can also take a look into my personal favorite choice. My best suggestion would be through making your own online business with a support from community. Basically it is a modern way of making money. What I like about it is that it doesn’t require any selling or recruiting.

Right now, I am on my second year in this type of business and I am already enjoying the fruits of my labor. So, I want to share my success with you.

  1. Multi level marketing always seemed a little pointless to me personally. I just never found interest in it and as you mentioned yourself not many people at all succeed in that area. Probably because its so difficult to actually get sales and new clients, in a nieche such as Stampin Up people usually just go to shopping centres and buy what they need there and then as for companies they order in bulk so I can imagine being with them is a struggle. Great review as always.

    1. Actually, MLM business are profitable if you are passionate about the products that you are offering. As for the Stampin Up, it depends on a certain person if he/she likes selling and recruiting.
