Product Overview

Company Name: Tastefully Simple

Owner: Jill Blashack Strahan

Price to Join: $39.95

My Rating: 6.7 out of 10.0

What is the Tastefully Simple?

Tastefully Simple is a multi-level marketing company that sells products that you can eat. The products are sold in many categories like beverages, breads, muffins, desserts, kosher, and seasonings. The company also offers gifts and kitchenware.

I personally like the niche of food and beverages because the products are consumable and they have a lot of demand. The company is U.S. based and it was founded by Jill Blashack Strahan in the year 1995. It is safe to say that the company knows how to survive in the competitive market. However, if the company is worth joining is yet to be seen.

In this review, I will take a closer look at this company and try to determine whether this is a scam or not. This is based on my honest research about it. I recommend that you read the entire review before thinking about joining this company.

How Does Tastefully Simple Work?

There isn’t a lot of information about their compensation plan on their website. This is not a good sign as the company is not that transparent. Maybe the reason for this is that they want you to contact a consultant to know more about them.

Without their detailed compensation plan, I can only focus on the limited information that they have provided. So here are the ways of earning in Tastefully Simple.

They claim that you can earn up to 40% commission on your retail sales. I don’t think that you will start earning 40% commission on your retail sales right away and you will have to advance in the ranks to do so.

In the beginning, you may earn in the range of 20-30% commission on your retail sales. It looks like that the company wants consultants to sell the products through house parties. This concept is not new and you can find thousands of MLM companies using the house party model to sell their products.

It works like this. First of all, you find a host or host the party at your home. Then you showcase the products and try to sell them to the people who attend the party.

More Information About Tastefully Simple

I think that selling the products through parties is a good idea because the products are food and beverages. They will be much easier to sell if the people who attend the party like the taste of the sample that you provide them.

The downside is that you will have to keep buying the products so that you can showcase them to more people. There is no way that you can host a lot of parties without actually buying the products.

You have to maintain $200 worth of retail orders every quarter if you want to be considered active so it will not be easy to stay active. Obviously, you can also earn by building your team of consultants who do well. Since this is an MLM company, most of the bonuses will be based on your downline so it is necessary to build one if you want to succeed.

Based on the limited information that I could find, I am not too impressed by this company. The opportunity looks great in the beginning, but in reality it is not exceptional.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

In order to join in Tastefully Simple, you have to pay a membership fee of $39.95 in addition to the cost of your kit.

There are two main kit types and one type costs $200 and the other one costs $69.95. So if you choose the one that is worth $200, you will get the freedom to choose the kits that are worth $200. You will also have to buy additional products for hosting parties so also keep that in mind.

How Much Can I Earn?

There is no doubt that the product line of this company is stronger than many MLM companies. The products are a little expensive, but if you find people who love the products, then they might buy them. There are costs involved with doing this business, but you can recover them if you are able to sell enough products.

I don’t think that you will most likely make a full-time income just by selling the products.

The issue is that it is not easy to build a downline and many people struggle to build a strong team. It will only get tougher to build your downline and advance in the ranks as the competition increases. So I don’t think that your earnings will most likely be great.

Are there Any Complaints?

It is important to learn more about this company so I have listed some of the major concerns below.

This is not something that I can do full-time.

There is a lack of advancement opportunities, bonuses and raises.

Bottom Line

In my opinion, Tastefully Simple is not a scam. They still offer some opportunity on how you can start your own business. I think that you can join this company if you are looking to earn some part time job.

However, your chances of earning a full-time income are low. If you decide to join, then you will have to spend at least a few hours every week contacting people and hosting parties. So if you feel passionate about the products, then you may join.

Nevertheless, I still leave the final decision in your hands. Good luck and choose wisely.

  • Teaches entrepreneurial skills
  • Good earning potential if done right

  • Climb the ranks to earn more
  • Support can be improved
  • Too much competition

How Do I Personally Earn Money Online?

I know that you want to join in Tastefully Simple because you want to have an alternative source of income. I also feel that you already know the benefits of having your own business.

But let me tell you that this type of business is not that easy. It requires patience and motivation in order to keep up with the work flow and succeed.

On the other hand, if you are still looking for an efficient and effective way of earning, then you can also look into my personal favorite. My best suggestion would be through making your own online business with a support from community. Basically it is a modern way of making money. And this will enable you to enjoy your working time at home.

Right now, I am on my second year in this community and I am already harvesting the fruits of my labor. So, I want to share my success with you.

  1. Hello,

Just want to leave some clarification to some of your points above.

Yes, they DO want you to connect with a consultant for info, as we believe in personal relationships within our business.

Yes, you can make up to 40% on your sales starting out, without ever “moving up in the ranks” that is an equal opportunity they provide for everyone. Should you want to grow a team and promote, your income for doing so is in addition to that commission.

Tastefully Simple is a great company to work for, I’ve been a consultant for 3 years and it’s been very rewarding for me and my family.

  2. I read your review on Tastefully Simple John and felt inclined to throw in my two cents worth.
I have been on the lookout for a decent MLM network to join ever since I watched a video by Robert Kiyosaki months ago recommending MLM networks as a good way of getting a first foot into the online sales game and surrounding yourself with mentors that you can learn from.
I do like the idea of a MLM actually having products to sell (not common enough) but the party framework is far too tupperware for my liking and far too short lived.
There must be something beneficial in these MLM concepts, they are everywhere and they have been around for ever. What is it? I am struggling to see it and don’t want to join one and waste a lot of money and six months finding out it’s all just a scam.

    • Actually, the most benefit that I can think of about MLM type of business is the earning potential. If you do everything right which includes building a strong team then your income will be good too. But this is not the case for everyone.

Personally, I am not good at recruiting and I find it challenging. But that is just for me. It still depends on your own personal preference.
