What is the The Gourmet Cupboard?

The Gourmet Cupboard is a multi-level marketing company that offers gourmet mixes. It offers soups, meals, side dishes, sweet and savory dips, teas, coffee, muffins and breads, desserts and much more in their gourmet product line.

In simple words, they try to make cooking easier for their customers and I can certainly see the appeal of the products. The products do look like that they are of a high-quality and the best part is that they are consumable. By the way, the owners of the company are Melissa Holmes and Judy Baker, who also share the relationship of mother and daughter.

In this review, I will take a closer look at this company and try to determine whether this is a scam or not. This is based on my honest research about it. I recommend that you read the entire review before thinking about joining this company.

How Does The Gourmet Cupboard Work?

The company provides a free affiliate website and training, which is something that I really appreciate. There aren’t many MLM companies that provide a free affiliate website even though they may provide free training.

Now let us take a look at the ways of earning money through their compensation plan.

RETAIL SALES

Their website says that the profit averages for 40% so I am assuming that they mean the profit from retail sales. If this is the commission that they pay on retail sales, then it is better than most MLM companies.

The compensation plan on their website doesn’t contain the percentage that they pay on retail sales so there is little doubt that the percentage is 40%.

LEVEL OVERRIDES

The compensation plan pays 3-12% overrides on your downline. The downline is formed by people that you recruit and the people that they recruit. The people that you directly recruit are on your first level and the people that they recruit are part of your second level and so on.

The company pays overrides on your first three levels as well as free recruits based on your rank.

By reaching the higher ranks you can earn from more levels and free recruits. By the way, free recruits are those people that don’t sign up with a sponsor and the company assigns them to you on a rotation basis. You need to qualify for the rank of Top Chef to start earning from free recruits.

More Information About The Gourmet Cupboard

WHIP IT UP BONUS

This bonus is paid when you reach a particular goal within a limited amount of time after joining. It is paid on reaching a particular rank and you will receive half of the amount if you reach the rank after expiry of the time period.

The bonus is paid in the range of $40-$100. The duration for earning the full amount of this bonus is in the range of 3 to 6 months based on the rank. So this is basically a rank advancement bonus.

MATCHING SPONSOR BONUS

If your direct recruit reaches a particular rank and you are at the same rank or higher, then you may receive this bonus. If they reach the rank within a limited time period then you can receive this bonus. In simple words, this bonus pays you the amount equal to the whip it bonus that your downline earns.

However, you are required to maintain $100 in orders during a sales period of 6 months.

This is the basic requirement for remaining a representative. As you qualify for the higher ranks, the requirements also increase.

The compensation plan is more focused on recruiting than it is on selling the products and there is no doubt about that.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

The Gourmet Cupboard has one of the lowest costs of joining as they only require you to pay $25. The $25 are used for buying your orders and this allows you to choose the products that you want to buy.

So instead of buying a kit, you will have to buy $25 worth of products that you like. Obviously, you will have to buy more products if you want to stay in this business, but you can manage that easily if you do well.

How Much Can I Earn?

The company didn’t publish an Income Disclosure Statement online so I can’t use figures to predict your earnings. Since this is an MLM company, it is safe to say that most people will have a hard time in this type of business.

I personally like the idea behind the products but still, they will be difficult to sell. There are many companies that sell gourmet mixes and I don’t think that this company is as well-known as some of them.

On the other hand, the positive thing is that the products aren’t expensive. One more thing to keep in mind is that they are consumable so you might get repeat customers. I think that because of the nature of the products, it will be a little easier to earn from this company.

Are there Any Complaints?

Yes, and I have listed some of the major concerns below.

 The company is just starting.

It can be really hard to advance in the ranks.

Bottom Line

In my opinion, The Gourmet Cupboard is not a scam. They still give some helpful ways on how you can start your own business. You may join this company if you think that you can sell the products and personally like them.

I am not a fan of the MLM model, but you can earn a lot from this company if you are passionate. Nevertheless, I still leave the final decision in your hands. Good luck and choose wisely.

Pros

  • Teaches entrepreneurial skills
  • Good earning potential

Cons

  • Climb the ranks to earn more
  • Competition is tough
  • Build a strong downline

I know that you want to invest in The Gourmet Cupboard because you want to try a new source of income. I also feel that you are already exhausted in not having enough time for your family and friends because of your day time job.

But let me tell you that this type of business requires great patience and support. Most especially if you are not that accustomed to recruiting or selling.

On the other hand, if you are still looking for new source of earning, then you can also take a look into my personal choice. My best suggestion would be through making your own online business with a support from community. Basically it is a modern way of making money. And it doesn’t require any selling.

Right now, I am on my second year in this type of business and I am already enjoying the fruits of my labor. So, I want to share my success with you.

  1. Hello, thanks for your review of the Gourmet Cupboard. Whilst it does sound inexpensive to join and therefore a low barrier to entry, I feel that you very accurately discuss the cons of joining, and there are many.
I think perhaps many people who get involved with an MLM do not realise the work it takes to establish a strong downline.
I am 100% in agreement with you that affiliate marketing is definitely the way to go!
    Thanks for your review.
    Warm regards

    • I also agree with you. Building a strong downline can give you a good earning potential. But personally, I am not a fan of this type of business.
