How Does Amway Work?

Now let us take a look how you can earn from this company.

This question must be there in your mind and I will tell you in a detailed manner how this business works and ways to earn from it.

Amway works like any other MLM company and you have to recruit people as well as to make sales to earn a decent income. The commission that you get paid is 25 percent which is lower as compared to some other MLM companies.

The biggest advantage that Amway offers over other MLM companies is the number and categories of products that you can choose to sell. You can choose health supplements or home care products or others as per your preference and expertise.

Once you make a sale to a customer and when the customer is satisfied then you can offer other products of Amway for sale too.

What is the Amway Scam

The ways that you can make sales are also diverse. You can use the internet to make sales. Home parties, mail order, person-to-person and others methods can also be used to increase your sales.

Once you join Amway you are known as an Independent Business Owner (IBO). Amway has paid billions as incentives and bonuses to its employees since its beginning in 1959.

Awards are also there for the exceptional employees.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?

It costs 62 dollars to join as an Independent Business Owner in Amway. The cost of joining is not so much and I think the price is fair. I am not saying that Amway is worth joining and I am just saying that the cost of joining is fair. Whether Amway is worth joining or not will be told to you in the conclusion part.

What is the Amway Scam

You can also buy the Welcome Product Kit for 83.99 dollars which includes full size products and samples. The kit also includes product brochures and other tools to help you promote your products to prospective customers.

It is absolutely compulsory to spend at least 62 dollars if you want to join.

How Much Can You Earn?

I know you are desperate and want to earn a lot of money with little effort and there is no shame in that because everyone wants to earn quick money.

I am really sorry but with Amway, your earnings depends on your performance in the business.

What is the Amway Scam

This is not a get rich quick scheme. Amway has been in the business for long but that does not mean that all those who work for it are millionaires.

Less than 1 percent of the people earn some serious money like 2000 dollars per month.

Are There Any Complaints?

Yes, there are complaints and it is a long list so let us get right to it.

  1. New people with no experience do succeed very rarely and do not like the competition that is very fierce.
  2. Amway is old but it is also a disadvantage because some people join only to find out that there is already someone who is making sales in the area and they have no scope for any earnings.
  3. Products are expensive and many people think more than twice before buying the products.

Some other complaints are also there but I know that you have got my point that is why I am not mentioning them.

Bottom Line

Amway is not a scam and something that has been around for so long should not be called a scam. But the question is, it is good enough to join? My answer to this question is no.

Why? There are far better alternatives to this business and many people do not earn enough to keep them in this business. It is a harsh reality that business is very competitive and most people end up with a headache rather than money.

Some get successful but I do not think it is worth the risk.

The business is too complicated and only some exceptional people should join and normal people should play smart and go find another opportunity.

Pros

  • Teaches Entrepreneurial Skills
  • Plenty of Product Options

Cons

  • Climb the Ranks to Earn More
  • Too Much Competition

How Can You Earn Money Online?

Now let us talk about some of the alternatives that are available for Amway. Starting your own business is a much better idea and you do not have to share profits with anyone.

It seems that you want to join in Amway because you are hoping that it would help you earn some extra money to pay for your expenses.

Let me tell you, It is not. Actually I was also in the same shoes as yours a year ago but then I was fortunate enough to learn about Wealthy Affiliate.

It is a training program that teaches people on how to build their own online business. At first, I was hesitant to join because I thought that it would be just another scam. But I still tried it since I have noting to lose because it is just free to join.

Right now, I am on my third year in the program and everything goes well.

  1. Hi John,

I’ve never heard of this opportunity before, I see it’s legit. I wouldn’t waste time with this type of program, doesn’t seem like someone would earn that much money. I like the 2nd opportunity Wealthy Affiliate seems like the way to go. Thanks so much for recommending this program, sounds like a real winner!

    1. Sure no problem. If you have the passion with the products promoted by Amway then you can also look into it. On the other hand, wealthy affiliate is another type of program that focuses on making your own online business. So they are two different programs.

  2. Hi, John.

Thank you for your review! I actually joined Amway almost two years ago hoping to get out of my 9 to 5 job. But just a couple months ago, my wife and I decided to look into affiliate marketing and build our own website and online business with Wealthy Affiliate.

Depending on who your upline is, Amway provides great training and education. But it does require ALL your time. That’s why my wife and I are not building an Amway business anymore. We were searching for a way to gain more time for ourselves and actually have a stay-at-home business which Amway did not provide.

We are still buying the products because we love all of their products. They are top quality.

I agree, that Amway is not a scam, but there are other better opportunities to invest your time and money into. Have you been in Amway before?

    Thank you!

    Weston

    1. Actually, I have been into similar MLM company like Amway when I was in college. Although the products are great, I am having a hard time on following the compensation plan. Plus my upline is not that hands on to me in terms of explaining the process of earning. That’s why I also quit in it.

If you are asking of another way of earning, then I suggest that you can look into affiliate marketing. I prefer this kind of business because it doesn’t need that much experience. All you need is the passion to work and build it. I have been in this business for more than a year now, and I am already slowly but surely earning.

  3. Hello John,

That is so true. Your earnings really do depend on how much work you put into the business, especially if you are new in the business. I know sometimes people join because they believe they will get rich quick without having to do any work. Amway has helped a lot of people but it has also taken more money away from others. I just think that if you plan to join Amway you should at least have some network marketing experience.

    1. I agree with you Frank. MLM business is not a get rich quick scheme. You have to spend much time and effort in order to achieve your desired income. For some this may be easy, but for most people it is not a piece of cake.

  4. Hi John!
As a former Amway rep, I can certainly tell you that you are correct. In order to make sales, you must be able to convince friends and family to buy your product or join the business with you. My upline came over and helped me call every one on my Facebook who didn’t have private numbers to ask them if they were interested in joining with me. It was a bit embarrassing.
After awhile, I became burnt out with all the conferences I had to attend as well as the books and cds I had to spend money on for personal development. If I pressured enough people, then I could pull in about 60.00 that month on personal sales. If you minus the personal development items and membership fees that you must pay to your team, I probably made about 5.00/monthly.
Amway is great for personal development and your team is very supportive of you. I grew close to a lot of people there. Don’t regret my time with this company, but WA sounds like a better option for me.

    1. Hi there Meggie! I am very delighted that you have shared your past experiences in Amway business. I agree with you that they can help you in developing your interpersonal skills but as for the business side, it is somehow challenging. I am also glad that you have expressed your feelings about the program because this can be a help for those who are thinking of investing in this MLM business. I know that you have spend much time and effort into it, but it appears that it is not your cup of tea. By the way, is there any business opportunity that you have tried aside from MLM?

  5. Hello John,

very informative and honest review. It all depends on where you live. I can guarantee that in my country (Lithuania), there is hardly anyone selling Amway products. However, I need to do further research on my own before I decide to join. Affiliate marketing is also a great way to earn money from home!

    Thanks for your effort!

  6. Fascinating article and very informative. Amway sounds a great opportunity for some but not for everyone and your article really described all the pros and cons with honesty. I’m really interested in the Wealthy Affiliate scheme, and I feel that Amway is just too overwhelming. Thank you for your help!

    1. People usually get too overwhelmed with MLM type of business. Maybe this is because they are intimidated with the thought of selling products. You can’t deny the fact that not everyone of us has the skills of talking to other people right? This requires confidence in order to convey your message well to the people you are talking to.

So you have mentioned about wealthy affiliate? Have you tried it before?

  7. Hey John,

Thanks for sharing about Amway, i didn’t know there was such a MLM company that lasted that long, at least there is no up sells cost other than the $62 and the $83.99 , it proves that the company isn’t a scam. Unlike other MLM that keeps ask you to buy and buy. Although it’s not a scam but i still agree with you that it is not recommended to join, MLM companies rarely will last in a long term… If you want to succeed in this industry you have to go down to the purest form of internet marketing which comes down to Affiliate Marketing and Wealthy Affiliate would be a good program to join. 1. Hi there men! I totally agree with you. MLM business can be a source of income but this is not for everyone. Most especially if you have no prior experience in selling products. So how long have you have been a member of wealthy affiliate? Actually, I have joined affiliate marketing just seven months ago. And in that very shot period of time, the business is very fulfilling. Right now, I am seeing the results that I have worked for and continually increasing.

  8. Hello John
Thank you for your comprehensive review of Amway. I’ve heard of the company a few times over the years but never really took the time until today to understand who and what they are about. I appreciate the fact that you are not calling it a scam as it does not fall into that category. Sure the chance of success is low, but it is not impossible and as you mentioned there are better ways to make an income. I too believe the best option is to start your own business online and Wealthy Affiliate play’s a key role in making that a reality. I wonder how many people really made enough money to quit their job selling Amway? I thank you for your review, it is really good stuff.
    Cheers
    Paul

    1. Hi there! If you will look the Amway business many years ago, it is a good source of income. However as times pass by, and because MLM business is already tainted with numerous scams, this already became an ineffective way of earning extra income.

So about your question, my answer is just a few. The primary reason for this is that there are already plenty of competitions when it comes to the products that are promoted by Amway. Also add up the addition of other MLM companies that makes the selling much difficult. Basically, being in a MLM business is not a guarantee that you will succeed and earn that much money like it was before.

Have you hear of affiliate marketing before? Actually, this is the new and booming business that most of online marketers are already doing.

  9. Hello again Rico,
Wow its one MLM after another, you’re on fire man! I love Amway products but to be honest, the network marketing element they focus on tends to degrade their quality.

Their people are always very pushy and even here in Malaysia I get non-stop calls from my friends who joined Amway and they sound really desperate.

Something’s definitely brewing in there and its not good. Glad you made this review, I’ve been looking for an unbiased one all day, thanks for taking the time to write this.

    1. I didn’t know that Amway is also in Malaysia right now. Actually, I am only familiar with the one in United States but I think the compensation plan of Amway is just the same through out the world. So what products do you like about them?

By the way, did your friends already made money from Amway? I hope you can answer my question so that I can add your testimonial into my reviews. This is an important factor in making honest reviews so that people who are trying to join in this business will learn how it actually works.
